Yesterday, PhD student Jens Visbech was among 17 young researchers to receive an Elite Research Travel Grant.
The grant from The Ministry of Higher Education and Science is DKK 200,000 and helps very talented PhD students to perform longer-term studies in some of the best research environments in the world.
Jens Visbech's PhD project is in applied mathematics, and he develops new computer models to simulate how waves interact with each other and with different structures at sea.
This involves using advanced math called numerics to find approximate solutions to complex equations. These models can help the green transition by supporting the development of renewable energy technologies like wave and wind energy.
The travel grant will primarily be used for a stay at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, where Jens will bring his family. Additionally, he will visit a research collaboration in Bordeaux, and he hopes to attend a few conferences and present new research results.
